How to resize an image for your shop

  • Upload your PNG, JPG or WebP — it stays on your device.
  • Pick a preset (like Etsy’s 2000 px) or type a custom width and height.
  • Resize & download. Aspect ratio stays locked by default so nothing looks stretched.

Handy sizes

  • Etsy listing photo: at least 2000 px wide and 2000 px tall. Keep the product in the middle ~70% so it survives every crop Etsy applies.
  • Etsy file types: JPG, GIF, PNG, SVG or HEIC — but animated GIFs and transparent PNGs are not supported. Keep files around 1 MB; larger ones often fail to upload.
  • Etsy shop icon: 500 × 500 px.
  • Etsy cover photo: 3360 × 840 px.

Frequently asked questions

What size should Etsy listing photos be?

Etsy asks for listing photos at least 2000 px on both width and height. Etsy does not publish one required aspect ratio — it displays your photo in different crops in different places (square in some views), and advises uploading photos that work across multiple crops. The practical rule: shoot a little loose and keep your product within the middle ~70% of the frame so nothing important is cut off. Presets for common shapes are below.

Will resizing lower my image quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it crisp. Making it much larger than the original adds pixels by guessing and can look soft, so avoid upsizing far beyond the original dimensions.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser with an HTML canvas. The file never leaves your device.
